In 2010 we had 4 (four) National Teams at the inaugural championships, which means about 200 fighters in official categories and around 100 that came “just for fun”.

A year later, in 2011, word about HMB sport started spreading around the world, and already 7 (seven) National Teams competed in that Championships. Around 250-300 fighters in official categories. 2012 was a year of steady growth, already 12 National Teams competed at that Championships. Over 300 fighters took part in three official categories.

A year after, in 2013, it was hard to believe, but already 22 National Teams took part in Battle of the Nations. Many teams became much stronger and bigger in numbers, so in total there were about 450-500 fighters. It was that year when the biggest “all vs all” buhurt was held, around 75 vs 85, just take a look how awesome was that.

Next year, in Croatia, 2014, we had 27 National Teams competed, but also for the first time in history of HMB sport we introduced women’s categories and also polearm duel category became official. For the first time, National Team could have more than 50 fighters (thanks to women). So, totaling with ~550 fighters from all around the globe it was a huge championship.

For the next two years Battle of the Nations was held in Prague. With all the decisions of expanding women’s categories, additions to “21 vs 21”, stable growth in quantity and quality of current teams, we managed to have 650 fighters in 2015 (first year in Prague) and over 750 fighters participated in 2016.

It is with no doubt to admit that scale of Battle of the Nations is enormous and it continues to grow. At the moment, 33 countries at least once participated in Battle of the Nations.

We can only look forward to what 2017 and Barcelona brings to us!
